Summary
DAA Pursuant to General Assembly resolution 54/202, the report analyses the external debt and debt-servicing problems of the developing countries. It reviews the progress made in the implementation of the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries Debt Initiative (HIPC) and discusses the problems of the non-HIPC debtors. It also examines the debt problems in emerging markets and issues in commercial debt work-outs. It puts forward proposals for reform of the international approach to the debt problems of developing countries and economies in transition.
