Report of the Secretary-General on the implementation of Security Council resolutions 425 (1978) and 426 (1978)

Informs the Security Council that Israel has met the requirements defined in report of 22 May 2000 (S/2000/460), and confirms that Israeli forces have withdrawn from Lebanon in compliance with resolution 425 (1978). Gives an account of the activities of the Special Envoy and his team of technical experts from 24 May to 7 June 2000. Reports on discussions regarding the identification of the line for the purpose of confirming Israel's withdrawal and outlines the positions of the Governments of Lebanon and Israel. Describes steps taken concerning the return of the effective authority of the Government of Lebanon in the area and discusses the future role of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon.
