Review of resource requirements for the high-level international intergovernmental event on financing for development and the 3rd UN Conference on the Least Developed Countries

Reaffirms section XIV of its resolution 54/251 of 23 Dec. 1999, in which it decided that the special account would be maintained and the unspent balance retained until all the activities and programmes outlined in the report of the Secretary-General of 13 May 1998 and approved by the General Assembly in its resolution 53/3 of 12 Oct. 1998 were completed; notes with concern that no extrabudgetary resources have been received to date in response to the note verbale of 14 Feb. 2000 addressed to all States members of UNCTAD, inviting them to consider providing, through voluntary contributions, resources to defray the costs of participation of government representatives in the meetings of the Intergovernmental Preparatory Committee for the 3rd UN Conference on the Least Developed Countries and the Conference itself; requests the Secretary-General to explore ways of providing the resources requirements for the high-level international intergovernmental event on financing for development and the 3rd UN Conference on the Least Developed Countries and to report to the General Assembly at the 2nd part of its resumed 54th session.
