Policies and programmes involving youth

Calls upon all States, all UN bodies, the specialized agencies, the regional commissions and the intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations concerned, in particular youth organizations, to make every possible effort towards the implementation of the Programme of Action; reiterates the call made by the World Conference to strengthen the Youth Unit of the Division for Social Policy and Development of the Secretariat; endorses the recommendation made by the World Conference that 12 Aug. be declared International Youth Day; invites the Secretary-General to participate actively in the effective follow-up to the World Conference; notes with appreciation the offer made by the Government of Turkey to organize the 2nd World Conference together with the 5th session of the World Youth Forum and the World Youth Festival; welcomes the offer of the Government of Senegal to host the 4th session of the World Youth Forum in 2000; invites all Governments and intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations to contribute to the Fund; requests the Secretary-General to report to the General Assembly at its 56th session on the implementation of the present resolution.
