Financing of the UN Preventive Deployment Force

Decides to reduce the appropriation provided by the General Assembly in its resolutions 52/245 of 26 June 1998 and 53/20 A in the amount of US$50,053,745 gross, inclusive of the amount of $1,053,745 for the support account for peacekeeping operations, for the maintenance of the Force in respect of the period from 1 July 1998-30 June 1999, to the amount of $43,062,700 gross, inclusive of the amount of $1,053,745 for the support account; decides also to apportion among Member States the additional amount of $9,693,537 gross for the period from 1 July 1998-30 June 1999; decides further that there shall be set off against the apportionment among Member States their respective share in the Tax Equalization Fund of the estimated additional staff assessment income of $189,634 approved for the Force for the period from 1 July 1998-30 June 1999; decides that, for Member States that have fulfilled their financial obligations to the Force, there shall be set off against the apportionment their respective share of the unencumbered balance of $6,895,700 gross in respect of the period ending 30 June 1998; decides also that, for Member States that have not fulfilled their financial obligations to the Force, their share of the unencumbered balance of $6,895,700 gross in respect of the period ending 30 June 1998 shall be set off against their outstanding obligations; decides further to appropriate the amount of $183,730 gross for the liquidation of the Force for the period from 1 July-15 Oct. 1999, inclusive of the amount of $9,305 for the support account for peacekeeping operations and the amount of $1,825 for the UN Logistics Base at Brindisi, Italy.
