Takes note of the report of the Secretary-General; welcomes the efforts aimed at achieving peace and national reconciliation in Tajikistan; welcomes with appreciation the efforts undertaken by the Secretary-General in drawing the attention of the international community to the acute humanitarian problems of Tajikistan; welcomes the appointment by the Secretary-General of the UN Resident Coordinator as Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General in Tajikistan; welcomes the pledges made at the donor conference convened by the Secretary-General at Vienna on 24 and 25 Nov. 1998 to obtain international support dedicated to the implementation of the General Agreement; encourages Member States and others concerned to continue assistance to alleviate the urgent humanitarian needs of Tajikistan; welcomes the intention of the Secretary-General to continue the UN humanitarian programme in Tajikistan; strongly condemns the murder of 4 members of the UN Mission of Observers in Tajikistan; recognizes that comprehensive international support remains essential for the intensification of the peace process in Tajikistan; requests the Secretary-General to continue to monitor the humanitarian situation in Tajikistan.
