Support account for peacekeeping operations

Requests the Secretary-General, when determining the allocation of the 400 support account-funded temporary posts, including the 6 additional posts, to take into account the observations and recommendations contained in the report of the Advisory Committee; also requests the Secretary-General to include in his support account submission for the period from 1 July 1999-30 June 2000 a comprehensive review of a rapidly deployable mission headquarters, addressing particularly the differences between its functional responsibilities and those of the Mission Planning Service of the Department of Peacekeeping Operations of the Secretariat, and further to develop the concept for its employment during the initial phase of a new peacekeeping operation; decides to establish 2 civilian posts at the P-4 level (1 Humanitarian Affairs Officer and 1 Civilian Police Officer) for a rapidly deployable mission headquarters; takes note of the observations contained in paragraph 21 of the Advisory Committee, and decides to establish 1 post at the P-4 level for the Office of Internal Oversight Services of the Secretariat.
