Cooperation between the UN and the Organization of the Islamic Conference

Requests the UN and the Organization of the Islamic Conference to continue to cooperate in their common search for solutions to global problems, such as questions relating to international peace and security, disarmament, self-determination, decolonization, human rights, social and economic development and technical cooperations; welcomes the periodic high-level meetings between the 2 organizations; recommends that, in accordance with its resolution 50/17, a general meeting between representatives of the secretariats of the UN system and the Organization of the Islamic Conference should take place in 1998; also recommends that coordination meetings of focal point of the organizations and agencies of the UN system and the Organization of the Islamic Conference and its specialized institutions should be held concurrently with the general meeting in 1998; urges the organizations of the UN system, especially the lead agencies, to provide increased technical and other forms of assistance to the Organization of the Islamic Conference and its specialized and affiliated institutions in order to enhance cooperation.
