Summary
Welcomes the joint efforts of States of the Americas to achieve the approval and adoption of a strategy for dealing with the drugs problem in the Americas; takes note with satisfaction of the document entitled "Anti-drug strategy in the hemisphere", approved by the Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission of the Organization of American States at its 20th regular session, held at Buenos Aires in Oct. 1996, and signed at Montevideo in Dec. 1996; urges the international community to take due account of the anti-drug strategy in the hemisphere as a significant contribution to the strengthening of the Global Programme of Action adopted by the General Assembly at its 17th special session.
