Résumé
Statement made on behalf of the Security Council, at the 3782nd meeting, 28 May 1997, in connection with prior consultations held among Council members on the item entitled "The situation in the Middle East"; expresses support for the position taken by the Secretary-General in his report on the UN Disengagement Observer Force (S/1997/372) that despite the present quiet in the Israel-Syria sector, the situation in the Middle East continues to be potentially dangerous and is likely to remain so, unless and until a comprehensive settlement covering all aspects of the Middle East problem can be reached / President, Security Council.
