Statement made on behalf of the Security Council, at the 3777th meeting, 20 May 1997, in connection with prior consultations held among Council Members on the item entitled "Letters dated 20 and 23 Dec. 1991, from France, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the United States of America (S/23306, S/23307, S/23308, S/23309 and S/23317)"; notes with concern the reports that a Libyan-registered aircraft flew from Libya to Niger on 8 May 1997 and returned to Libya from Nigeria on 10 May in violation of resolution 748 (1992); and calls upon all States to fulfil their obligations under resolution 748 (1992) in the event that aircraft flights originating in the Libyan Arab Jamahirya seek to land in their territory / President, Security Council.
