摘要
Statement made on behalf of the Security Council, at the 3768th meeting, 16 Apr. 1997, in connection with prior consultations held among Council members on the item entitled "The situation between Iraq and Kuwait" (the case of an Iraqi aircraft which was flown from Baghdad to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and back, 9 Apr. 1997): states that although Iraq had requested clearance from the Committee established pursuant to resolution 661 (1990) for the release of funds to cover pilgrimage costs, Iraq had proceeded with this particular flight without specific consultation with the Committee; draws to the attention of Member States their obligations under resolutions 661 (1990), 670 (1990) and other relevant resolutions; and underlines its respect for the obligation of Muslims to perform the Hajj pilgrimage / President, Security Council.
