Statement made on behalf of the Security Council, at the 3761st meeting, 4 Apr. 1997, in connection with prior consultations held among Council members on the item entitled "Letters dated 20 and 23 December 1991, from France, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the United States of America (S/23306, S/23307, S/23308, S/23309 and S/23317)"; states that the flight on 29 Mar. 1997 of a Libyan-registered aircraft from Tripoli to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, is a violation of Council resolution 748 (1992) and calls on the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya to refrain from any further such violations; recalls that arrangements have been made consistent with resolution 748 (1992) to fly Libyan pilgrims to perform the Hajj / President, Security Council.

Statement made on behalf of the Security Council, 3761st meeting, 4 Apr. 1997, in connection with prior consultations held among Council members on the item entitled "Letters dated 20 and 23 December 1991, from France, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the United States of America (S/23306, S/23307, S/23308, S/23309 and S/23317". States that the flight on 29 Mar. 1997 of a Libyan-registered aircraft from Tripoli to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia was a violation of Security Council resolution 748 (1992) and calls on Libyan Arab Jamahiriya to refrain from any further such violations; recalls that arrangements have been made consistent with resolution 748 (1992) to fly Libyan pilgrims to perform the Hajj; notes that the Council has requested the Committee established pursuant to above cited resolution to remind Member States of their obligations under the resolution in the event that Libya-registered aircraft land in their territory.
