Adopts the proposed medium-term plan for the period 1998-2001; decides also to maintain disarmament as an independent programme in the medium-term plan; requests the Secretary-General to present to the Committee for Programme and Coordination at its 38th session recommendations on priority-setting, including at the subprogramme level, within the medium-term plan for the period 1998-2001; endorses the conclusions and recommendations of the Committee for Programme and Coordination at its 38th session that have not otherwise been approved by the General Assembly at its 51st session; notes with concern the low rate of implementation of the self-evaluation of the programmes.
