Statement made on behalf of the Security Council, at the 3688th meeting, 15 Aug. 1996, in connection with prior consultations held among Council members on the item entitled "The situation in Croatia"; welcomes the progress made by the UN Transnational Administration for Eastern Slavonia, Baranja and Western Sirmium (UNTAES) in implementing the Basic Agreement (S/1995/951, annex); underlines the importance of the holding of elections in accordance with the Agreement and urges the Government to adopt a comprehensive amnesty law / President, Security Council.
Statement submitted on behalf of the Security Council, 3788th meeting, 15 Aug. 1996, in connection with the item entitled "The situation in Croatia". Welcomes progress in implementing the Basic Agreement on the Region of Eastern Slavonia, Baranja and Western Sirminum; reminds Croatia to cooperate closely with the UN Transitional Administration for Eastern Slavonia, Baranja and Western Sirmium (UNTAES); urges Croatia to adopt a comprehensive amnesty law to all persons who served in the civil administration, military or police forces of the local Serb authorities in the former UNPAs with the exception of those who committed war crimes as defined in international law.
