Calls for an immediate cessation of hostilities by all parties; supports the ongoing diplomatic efforts to this end; reaffirms its commitment to the territorial integrity, sovereignty and political independence of Lebanon within its internationally recognized boundaries and to the security of all States in the region, and calls upon all concerned fully to respect those principles; calls upon all concerned to respect the safety and security of civilians; calls upon all concerned to respect the safety, security and freedom of movement of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and to allow it to fulfil its mandate without any obstacle or interference; calls upon Member States to offer humanitarian assistance to alleviate the suffering of the population and to assist the Government of Lebanon in the reconstruction of the country and requests the Secretary-General to ensure that UN and its agencies play their part in meeting the humanitarian needs of the civilian population; requests the Secretary-General to keep the Council informed of development on a continuing basis.
