Statement made on behalf of the Security Council, at the 3609th meeting, 19 Dec. 1995, in connection with prior consultations held among Council members on the item entitled "An agenda for peace"; takes note of the report of the Secretary-General on stand-by arrangements for peace-keeping operations (S/1995/943), encourages Member States to participate in the stand-by arrangements, and invites them to provide detailed information on those elements which they are ready to make available to UN and to identify components, such as logistic support elements and sea/airlift resources, presently underrepresented in the arrangements / President, Security Council.
