ملخص
Reaffirms the inalienable right to self-determination and independence; reiterates that it is the responsibility of the administering Powers to create such conditions in the Territories as will enable their people to exercise freely their inalienable right, and that such factors as territorial size, geographical location, size of population and limited natural resources should in no way serve as a pretext to delay the speedy exercise by the peoples of the Territories of their inalienable right; reaffirms the responsibility of the administering Powers to promote the economic and social development and to preserve the cultural identity of the Territories, and recommends that priority should be given to the strengthening and diversification of their respective economies; urges the administering Powers to take measures to safeguard and guarantee the inalienable right of the peoples of the Territories to own, develop or dispose of the national resources of the Territories; urges the administering Powers to protect and conserve the environment of the Territories and to counter problems related to drug trafficking; also urges the administering Powers to cooperate with the Special Committee and to continue or to cooperate with the Special Committee and to continue or to resume their participation in future meetings and activities of the Special Committee; urges Member States to contribute to the efforts of UN to achieve the eradication of colonialism by the year 2000; invites the specialized agencies and other organizations of the UN system to take all necessary measures to accelerate progress in the social and economic life of the Territories; requests the Special Committee to recommend the most suitable steps to be taken to the General Assembly at its 48th session.
