摘要
Approves the chapter of the report of the Special Committee relating to American Samoa, Anguilla Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands Guam, Montserrat, Tokelau, the Turks and Caicos Islands and the United States Virgin Islands; reaffirms the inalienable right of the people of those Territories to self-determination and independence; reiterates that it is the responsibility of the administering Powers to create such conditions as will enable their people to exercise freely and without interference their inalienable right to self-determination and independence and that such factors as territorial size, geographical location, size of population and limited natural resources should in no way serve as a pretext to delay the speedy exercise by the peoples of their inalienable right to self-determination; reaffirms the responsibility of the administering Powers to promote the economic and social development and to preserve the cultural identity of those Territories; urges the administering Powers to take effective measures to safeguard and guarantee the inalienable right of the peoples of those Territories to own, develop or dispose of the natural resources of those Territories, including marine resources; calls upon the administering Powers to take all necessary measures to counter problems related to drug trafficking; urges Members States to contribute to the efforts of UN to achieve the eradication of colonialism by the year 2000.
