Summary
Strongly demands: (a) the lifting of the state of emergency; (b) the immediate and unconditional release of Nelson Mandela and all other political prisoners and detainees; (c) the lifting of the ban on all individuals and political organizations opposing apartheid and the repeal of restrictions on the press; (d) the withdrawal of the troops from black townships; (e) the cessation of all political trials and political executions; calls upon Member States to use concerted and effective measures to ensure the prompt implementation of the resolution; requests the Secretary-General to continue to promote efforts leading to the eradication of apartheid through genuine negotiatons.
