Summary
Welcomes the establishment in Cambodia of an operational presence of the Centre for Human Rights to: (a) manage educational, technical assistance and advisory services programmes; (b) assist the Government established after the election in meeting its obligations under human rights instruments including the preparation of reports; (c) provide support to bona fide human rights groups; (d) contribute to the creation and/or strengthening of national human rights institutions; (e) assist with the drafting of human rights legislation and to assist with the training of persons responsible for the administration of justice; requests the Secretary-General to ensure adequate resources for the functioning of the Centre in Cambodia; also requests the Secretary-General to provide the necessary resources to enable the Special Representative to fulfil his tasks expeditiously.
