Review of the implementation of the recommendations and decisions adopted by the General Assembly at its 10th special session : resolution / adopted by the General Assembly.

Decides that the 1st Committee of the General Assembly, should continue to deal with questions of disarmament and related international security issues; requests the Chairman of the 1st Committee to continue his consultations on further rationalization of the work and effective functioning of the Committee; reaffirms the role of the Disarmament Commission as a specialized deliberative body within the UN disarmament machinery; recommends every effort be made to enhance the working methods of the Disarmament Commission and to that end welcomes the decision of the Commission to move its agenda towards a 3-item phased approach; notes that the Conference on Disarmament, as the single global disarmament negotiating forum, maintains special status in relationship with the UN disarmament machinery; welcomes the fact that the Conference on Disarmament, in addition to the review of its composition, has also intensified the review of its agenda and methods of work; encourages the Conference on Disarmament to reach early agreement on the expansion of its membership; stresses the importance of enhancing cooperation among the 1st Committee, the Disarmament Commission and the Conference on Disarmament; urges the Secretary-General to take concrete steps to strengthen the Office for Disarmament Affairs.
