Summary
Decides to convene the UN Conference on Human Settlements from 3-14 June 1996; decides that the long term objectives of the Conference should include such issues as the deterioration of global human settlements conditions, the creation of conditions to improve them, and to adopt a general statement of principles and commitments and formulate a related global plan of action capable of guiding national and international efforts through the first 2 decades of the next century; decides to establish a Preparatory Committee for the Conference; decides that an organizational session shall be held at UN Headquarters in Mar. 1993 and that 2 preparatory sessions should be held early 1994; decides that the Conference will be held in Turkey in 1996; decides that the host country shall be an ex officio member of the Bureau of the Preparatory Committee; requests the Secretary-General to establish an ad hoc Secretariat headed by the Secretary-General of the Conference; decides to establish a separate voluntary fund to support developing countries in participating in the Conference and its preparatory process.
