Summary
Urges the developed countries and multilateral financial institutions to continue to ensure that the resources allocated to the economies in transition do not reduce or divert official development assistance allocated to the developing countries; calls upon the international community to consider assisting the developing countries whose economies have been most affected by the changes in their economic relations with the economies in transition, in order to adapt to those changes; requests the Secretary-General to continue to review and analyse in close consultation and coordination with UNCTAD the impact of the evolution of the economies in transition on the growth of the world economy, in particular on the economic growth and development of the developing countries, as well as on international economic cooperation and to submit to the General Assembly at its 48th session a report containing, inter alia, an assessment of the progress made in the implementation of the present resolution.
