Summary
Stresses the importance of international cooperation in industrial development, in particular in the fields of human resources development, investment and export promotion, technology transfer, industrial conversion and development of national capacities, in order to diversify and modernize productive activities in developing countries; calls upon organizations of the UN system to take due account, especially by ensuring provision set forth under section IV of Agenda 21; recommends that UNIDO strengthen its cooperation with organizations in the public and private sectors, especially in developing countries, in particular with those organizations working in human resources development, investment and export promotion and technological capacity-building; urges the international community, in particular multilateral financial institutions and regional banks, to support industrial development programmes and projects; reiterates its call to UNIDO and other relevant UN organizations to encourage and support technical cooperation among developing countries in the field of industrialization; requests the Secretary-General to invite the Director-General of UNIDO to report to the General Assembly at its 49th session on the implementation of the present resolution.
