Calls upon all States to intensify their actions to promote effective cooperation in the efforts to combat drug abuse and illicit trafficking; reaffirms that the international fight against drug trafficking should not in any way justify violation of the principles enshrined in the Charter of UN and international law, particularly the right of all peoples freely to determine their political status and to pursue their economic, social and cultural development; decides to consider at its 48th session the question of respect for the principles enshrined in the Charter of UN and international law in the fight against drug abuse and illicit trafficking under the item entitled "International drug control".
