Implementation of General Assembly resolution 46/152 concerning operational activities and coordination in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice.

Decides that, under the guidance of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, the Secretariat should be responsible for facilitating the planning, coordination and implementation of pratical activities in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice; recommends the establishment, within programme 29 of the medium-term plan, of a subprogramme on operational activities, planning and overall coordination; invites Member States to establish reliable and effective channels of communication among themselves and with the UN crime prevention and criminal justice programme; recommends that the coordination of activities in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice be undertaken by the Secretary-General; requests the Secretary-General to assist in mobilizing support for the UN crime prevention and criminal justice programme and in undertaking vigorous fund-raising activities to strengthen particularly its technical assistance and advisory services operational capacity; determines the priority themes which shall guide the work of the Commission in the development of a detailed programme and the budget allocations for the period 1992-1993.
