Summary
Resolves that the celebration in 1988 of the 40th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights shall be used as an occasion to highlight the achievements of the UN in its efforts to promote and protect human rights universally, to renew the commitment of the Organization in this area and to encourage Member States to ensure the promotion and protection of the rights enshrined in the Declaration; urges the UN Postal Administration to give special attention to the issuance of commemorative postage stamps on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Declaration; confirms its decision to devote 1 plenary meeting during its 43rd session to the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Declaration, which falls on 10 Dec. 1988, and requests the Secretary-General to make the necessary preparations for the programme of that meeting.
