International Conference on the Plight of Refugees, Returnees and Displaced Persons in Southern Africa : resolution / adopted by the General Assembly.

Welcomes the decision by the OAU to convene in Sept. 1988 an International Conference on the Plight of Refugees, Returnees and Displaced Persons in Southern Africa; requests the Secretary-General of the UN to give all possible assistance to the Secretary-General of the OAU in the preparation and organization of the International Conference; appeals to all Member States, the specialized agencies of the UN system and regional, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations to provide all the necessary support and resources needed for the convening and success of the International Conference; calls upon the international community to provide increased assistance to the countries of southern Africa to enable them to strengthen their capacity to provide the necessary facilities and services for the care and well-being of refugees, returnees and displaced persons in their countries.
