Summary
Establishes for the 2 years 1989 and 1990 a target for voluntary contributions to the World Food Programme of $1.4 billion, of which not less than one third in the aggregate should be in cash and/or services, and expresses the hope that those resources will be augmented by substantial additional contributions from other sources in recognition of the prospective volume of sound project requests and the capacity of the Programme to operate at a higher level; urges Member States of the UN and members and associate members of FAO and appropriate donor organizations to make every effort to ensure the full attainment of the target; requests the Secretary-General, in co-operation with the Director-General of FAO, to convene a pledging conference for this purpose at UN Headquarters early in 1988.
