Financing of the UN Logistics Base at Brindisi, Italy

GEN

Urges the International Civil Service Commission to finalize its work on the review of the rate of post adjustment for the Logistics Base and report thereon before the end of the main part of the 54th session of the General Assembly; requests the Secretary-General, in the context of the next budget submission, to indicate clearly, the resources required for the Logistics Base to perform its basic functions and encourages him to take additional steps with a view to wider use of the Logistics Base by the specialized agencies and programmes of the UN system; approves the cost estimates for the Logistics Base amounting to US$7,456,500 for the period from 1 July 1999-30 June 2000; decides to apply the unencumbered balance of $1,373,600 in respect of the period from 1 July 1997-30 June 1998 to the resources required for the period from 1 July 1999-30 June 2000, and also decides to appropriate the balance of $6,082,900 among the individual active peacekeeping operation budgets to meet the financing requirements of the Logistics Base for the period from 1 July 1999-30 June 2000; authorizes the Secretary-General to provide for a civilian establishment consisting of 10 Professional, 10 Field Service and 83 locally recruited staff.
