Stresses the crucial importance of the completion of the work of the Committee for Development Policy on the vulnerability index; requests the Committee to continue, and to make all possible efforts to complete, its work in this regard during its forthcoming session and to report thereon to the Economic and Social Council at its substantive session of 1999; also requests the Committee to consider the theme of the role of employment and work in poverty eradication in the context of globalization: the empowerment and advancement of women, and, in this regard, requests the Secretariat to make available to the Committee its work in preparing for the substantive session of 1999 of the Economic and Social Council.
