Summary
This Special Issue title examines traditional justice systems in sub-Saharan Africa from a human rights perspective and, in particular, with reference to the rights enumerated in international human rights treaties. It aims to assist those involved in human rights work to have a better understanding of traditional justice systems, and is intended for use primarily by lawyers and others who have legal training. The publication identifies specific human rights concerns that traditional justice systems may present, and it refers to law and jurisprudence that may be helpful in understanding their implications.
