Manual for the development of criminal justice statistics.

The major uses and purposes of criminal justice statistics are described in this manual, followed by analysis of the functional components and requirements of a system of criminal justice statistics and the contents of such a system. The manual reviews various forms of organization to facilitate the collection of criminal justice statistics, analyses technical issues in data collection and considers the development of data dissemination, analysis and evaluation. This volume was prepared in response to a resolution of the Sixth United Nations Congress on the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders, held in 1980.
