Summary
Anthony Banbury (United States of America, 1964 – ) held positions in the United Nations Border Relief Operations in Thailand, the United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia (UNTAC) and the United Nations Protection Force in Bosnia Herzegovina and Croatia from 1988 to 1995. In 1996, he returned to the United States to work in the United Nations Secretariat in the Executive Office of the Secretary-General and the Department of Humanitarian Affairs. In 1997, Mr. Banbury moved to the Government of the United States working several years at the National Security Council in the White House and within the Department of Defense. From 2003 to 2009, he served as the Asia Regional Director for the World Food Programme, and in April 2009, Mr. Banbury was appointed as Assistant Secretary-General for Field Support at the United Nations. Focusing on Mr. Banbury's experiences in UNTAC, this interview, conducted on 20 July 1998, covered the United Nations' humanitarian efforts in Cambodia. Mr. Banbury shared his insight on operations in Cambodia, education in human rights and the internal relations within the sector.
